Sweet and snack manufacturers and producers of equipment to make sweets and snacks were out in full force at the Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg for the whole weekend.

Chefs, bakers and sugar artists all wowed the crowed at regular intervals with demonstrations of baking cooking and wielding sugar as an art form.

Nicolas van der Walt one of the countries leading pastry chefs put in a special appearance at the expo. Nicolas is passionate about pastry and has made chocolate craft and sugar work into art forms. One of the prizes up for grabs at the Sweet and Candy expo was in fact also an attempt at a record for the worlds Largest Edible Chocolate painting.

Most people have a weakness for chocolate, however slight, and the chocolate fountain proved to a hit with young and old alike. Being able to dip just about anything your heart desires under running chocolate will definitely be the inspiration behind a few parties in the near future. The expo wasn't only about eating snacks but also making them. Demo's were held giving the finer tips on how to get something just right and equipment making the life of a snack lover much easier was show cased.

Just about every taste was catered for by the diverse selection of exhibitors and if there was something missing it will in all likelihood be there next year when the South African Sweet and Snack Expo returns bigger and better.
