Bee story

A few weeks ago I noticed that there were more bees in my garden than I am normally used to seeing, but I thought it was because my garden was finally blooming after all the rain we've been having. But there were just too many. I had a suspicion that there was a beehive in the vicinity. My neighbour had asked me a few weeks earlier whether I was allergic to bees, because he was thinking of installing a hive in his back garden.

It turns out that because of his very active dogs it wouldn't be a good idea to start a hobby as a beekeeper. So the bees weren't coming from next door then. I'd best give my garden a thorough inspection. I don't have any sheds or storage spaces in the back garden and the only ornamental thing would be the birdbath under a tree in the front garden.

After my inspection I was walking back to my kitchen door when something made me look up. Bees were flying in and out from under my roof. The sneaks had found a way in and had made themselves comfortable in my ceiling.

I was surprised to find a whole lot of bee removal companies on the internet, all claiming to be the go to guys when you have a bee infestation. What I really wanted was quick, efficient and cheap.
The first guy could only come out in a weeks time. I thought to myself, “You've lived with them so long what harm can a few more days do.”

The guy never arrived.

By now I was starting to worry about what kind of damage these bees could cause if I didn't move them out quickly.

I was passing time browsing the internet for things to do in Johannesburg and happened to come across the - in Johannesburg – website. According to the website the Bee team were the heros in a few similar cases before.

I called the Bee Team up using the number on their website. They could come out the very next morning, which they did. The bees and the honeycomb were removed without any poisons. I was told by the bee remover that they rehouse or rehive the bees and let them settle into their new home before they are either sold on to a beekeeper or sent to a farm where they can go about their business.

At least I didn't have to worry about any damage to my home and I felt like a bit of a hero for saving the bees and not exterminating them. I even got a little reward in the form of a small bottle of honey.
